As much as I hate to admit it, I am a bit of a hoarder. Not like the nasty ass hoarders we've seen on A&E but it's still a habit I'd love to get rid of.
Good news is it's not the expensive kind of bad habit. Nah, I'm broke for other reasons...like compulsive shopping. Damn you Target, why do you have to be so fucking fabulous?! *shaking fist*

| • Cooking Magazines: There's always a recipe {or 12} I just MUST keep or swear I'll copy & eventually put into my cookbook. I never do though & they just sit in the corner of my room taking up space. • Nail Polish: I blame all these awesome swaps for this one. I never ever had more than 6 colors at a time but now I have a photo box full. How many have I used? Maybe 4. Don't judge. • Shoes: Much like adorable coats, these are my weakness. I love shoes. Not expensive one's either...I'm talking like Ross or Target shoes. I have a ton of them in the closet & have only worn about a handful of them. Doesnt matter though, I might need them someday. • Junk Mail: This is probably the worst cause it's completely useless. My nightstand is overflowing with junk mail from 2 months ago. I need to get into the habit of just tossing it as the shit comes in. |
It was originally gonna end here but my loving husband just informed me that this ain't the only shit I hoard. Yeah, he's a got list going on or something, obviously he reads our RT newsletter haha. According to Rusty I also hoard cardboard boxes (good for shipping out swap junk), makeup (never wear it but I sure do like it), gift bags/wrapping paper (you need it year around, why waste money every time), crochet yarn (it was on sale!), and hotel shampoo/conditioner (no one seems to minds this when we're completely out of the full size kind).

Hotel shampoo - guilty of that one (but to my defense, I do use them when I go away for one night). Shoes - check. Nail polish - check. Wrapping paper - check. Either we're totally alike or this is what women are like universally. However, no junk mail. Piles of magazines, though =)
ReplyDeleteI used to subscribe to a dozen cooking magazines and I NEVER READ THEM. Terrible. The junk mail thing KILLS me. I do it too and it drives me nuts. I try to just immediately put it in the recycling bin when I get it.

ReplyDeleteI would LOVE to hoard stuff, but unfortunately when I asked J what he thought he told me, 'Baby, you're too OCD and clean to hoard anything.' I thought it was pretty damn funny.

I hoard nail polish too. Even after its all gunky and no longer works. Bad habit that I must break.
ReplyDeleteI have a special spot JUST for hotel toiletries and free samples I get in the mail. I love digging in there before I got on a trip to pick out what I'm going to take with me.

ReplyDeleteHa! I just got rid of a bunch of Real Simple Magazines! It broke my heart to toss em! But you better believe that i went through them and took out a few recipes! Love magazine with recipes! Oh did you know Real simple does digital versions on the iPad? Means i can toss em! Or give em away!

Ack! I do the same with junk mail. I find stack of it whenever I'm REALLY cleaning the house and I end up just throwing it all away! lol!
ReplyDeleteI throw out EVERYTHING. Seriously. If I can't find a use for it RIGHT NOW, it's gone. Which sounds super awesome and efficient, but it is not. I always throw out stuff I actually will need and I'm left being way pissy about trying to find a replacement.
