My Fun Senior Citizen Style Weekend...

It's begun.

The cool mornings, sleeping with a comforter instead of just a thin sheet, and not having to wait til after 2pm to watch TV because you know it'll just release even more heat into the room.

Fall...or Autumn...or whatever the hell you want to say it is, is finally here and with that comes my desire to crochet. A lot.

Truthfully I don't know how to make anything other than a blanket or scarf and didn't know more than one kind of crocheting style before this weekend. Thank you, YouTube!

But now, I'm rocking the shit out of that hook & just last night I finished my first ever infinity scarf. Which by the way I could really give two shits about, I'm not that trendy or cute or in need of one because it's never scarf weather around these parts.

So this really cute, but a little rough around the edges...hey, it was my first attempt at this pattern, scarf  I just finished is gonna be making its way to Alaska where it'll help keep Kristin warm on those shitty below freezing mornings. Still don't know she gets the nerve to step outside without an electric blanket style suit on.

My plan was to take a picture of it this morning before work but like always I was running late so you get nothing but a picture of the yarn I'll be using on my next scarf.

Well, that is, the next scarf I'll be starting as soon as my crippled crochet thumb pain goes away. It's so swollen I'm giving Meghan Fox' toe thumbs some competition.

  1. Ha ha, I've always been a senior citizen at heart. Is there something like an honorary retiree? That'd be me! Last evening was the first night we fired up our wood-burning stove, oven or whatever it's called in English - we had temperatures in the 30s!

  2. Well I don't crochet or do anything even remotely crafty, because I such so terribly at all of it, but I still have my fair share of senior citizen weekends. I may or may not have spent a good portion of yesterday surrounded by cats and working on my crossword puzzle book.

  3. Hahaha, well I guess the whole senior citizen style is because of the crochet, well, I myself had the same kind of weekend then. I just finished a crochet bathmat and started a new project for my next giveaway which would be something with that same color yarn (Coral!)... If you like, come by my blog on Wed. to sign up, it's going to be a cool one!

Also tomorrow I am linking back to you for 10 on Tuesday!

  4. I really would like to be able to knit. I tried it once and gave up after a couple of hours.

  5. Good for you Lin! I should learn how to crochet or knit...hard to eat if your hands are busy.. Hope we can see a pic of the finished scarf!

  6. Gah! Im so jealous!! I really want to learn, and everyone keeps saying try YouTube. Im curious, how hard was it to learn?

  7. wow, that is impressive! and speaking of senior citizen moments...i fell asleep at 10pm this wknd!

  8. You crack me up. You know why? Because below freezing mornings are happening now. Soon, we won't see an above freezing DAY til April. I deal with it by spending as little time outdoors as possible. I won't even buy the good (expensive) outdoor clothes. I just stay inside :)
Thanks for sending sympathetic traffic to my blog today!

  9. I've always wanted to learn how to crochet! I even bought yarn and the needles and some book to learn it...but it looked complicated and I never actually started it..hehe.

  10. Looking forward to seeing the result of the next scarf... it doesn't count just showing the yarn and say you made a scarf:)

  11. I wanted to learn how to crochet so bad, but apparently I just suck at it. Knitting, on the other hand...much, much easier for me.

I love comments!
