I'm Super Forgetful...Especially When It Comes To My Wedding Ring

Usually it's the man that forgets to wear his wedding ring. That is not the case in my marriage. I'm the one who's constantly forgetting to wear my ring & Rusty is the one who practically has his glued to his finger.

It's not that I don't love my ring, I do but my fat hands tend to get even fatter while I sleep so I take it off at night & forget to put it back on in the morning. I know most of you are probably saying 'um...I do that too, minus your giant ape hands, but picking it back up is as easy as brushing your teeth' and although this IS very true, I still forget it almost every morning.

This morning was one of them. In order for me to get to work on time we have to leave the house by 4:45am, yeah I don't know how I do it either...I'm crazy. So when I was in the car, all buckled up & realized I wasn't wearing my ring I made the mistake of saying it, out loud.

Total rookie mistake. Oops.

Rusty got pissed. Not yelling pissed but upset pissed and said 'go get it' but since I'm lazy already buckled in & ready to go, I say 'no, that's ok', like it was a freakin' option. And, apparently it wasn't because Rusty got out of the car & went all the way upstairs to fetch it for me. I never thought it was so important to him for the world to know this gal's taken.

My point? Well there really isn't one but I'm curious to know if anyone else does this or if you're like Rusty & think your spouse should always wear their ring?

Note:

I should probably inform you that yes I'd get mad if Rusty wasn't wearing his ring and this is mostly because this dude gets hit on almost everywhere we go. No joke. It happens when I'm with him and in the little time it takes me to use a public restroom. I on the other hand haven't been hit on in years...this is both good & quite depressing.

This is literally what my marriage is like...fun times. lol

  1. I hear ya. The Hubs gets upset when I forget to wear my engagement ring. I mean, I'm already wearing my wedding ring. But I tend to take off my "er" when I'm cooking and well, it just stays off. Totally pisses him off & I don't get it.

However, I tend to get all pissy when The Hubs doesn't wear his ring either though cause this man gets hit on as well. I could be standing right by him, holding our child and still, he gets numbers. Pfft.

And if I were already in the car, ready to go, I wouldn't have gone back in either.

So, yeah...I have no answer for you other than Men are territorial and sometimes we are running around like crazy to get somewhere that we're allowed to forget things.

  2. I am cracking up! I take off my rings every night because my fingers swell up like little snausages and it hurts. That and I might have once told CJ the scratch on his arm was from my ring clawing him in the night which was justification for needing to take off my rings. You know, for his safety. Not because I have pudgy little fingers that puff up 3x their size!

And yes, I often forget my rings. He gets so bothered. He NEVER takes his ring off. Ever.

  3. We take our rings off at night because our hands swell too! Sometimes the husband wears his and sometimes he forgets. I don't get mad at him, because there are some days that it takes me until late in the afternoon to realize I forgot to put mine back on. There are sometimes I get a little annoyed that he's missing his - like when we get dressed up and go to a formal event, but for the most part, it's not that big of a deal. He normally doesn't wear it while he's deployed for a year.

  4. I hardly ever wear mine either. Especially not at home, because I just know I'll drop it down the garbage disposal and lose it forever. But honestly, when it's hot here, I get all swollen and it's uncomfortable. Thankfully, Mr. BFG doesn't seem to care too much.

I wonder if it's because he knows any man who dares to pick me up will bring me right back within a few hours...

  5. Well I wear my ring all the time, but my husbands are hanging on the notice board, which he told me it would even before getting married. I don't have a problem with it, maybe because I knew ahead of time. When we went ring shopping I figured he could just get a cheap one, and I would get something real nice and more expensive... though that didn't happen:)

  6. It sounds like you have an awesome hubbs, maybe you should think about doing something extra nice for him.

  7. I almost hate to admit this, but we're one of those obnoxious couples that literally never take our rings off. Of course, I had my rings sized during the summer while I'm continually puffy, so that's probably why they don't cause me discomfort when I swell and spin around when I'm not puffy!

  8. I don't wear my ring to work because I work in a hospital and I'm constantly putting gloves on and using the nasty alcohol sanitizer on my hands.
I wore my rings to work once and I got holes in the gloves and a rash underneath the ring where the sanitizer would lay.
Since I don't wear it at work, on my days off if I go anywhere, I tend to forget and Hubster gets really mad at me. I can understand that he bought a beautiful ring for me when we were married and he wants me to wear it, but my mind is in other places. I know we're married and he knows, so why can't we leave it at that?
I'm not a huge jewelry wearer either.
That reminds me, I'm going to put my rings on before he gets home from work!
