Being Healthy Is So Expensive & The Nook Color...Yay or Nay?

The pants I'm wearing are making me slide off my chair every time I get comfortable. This is not cool. I find myself trying really hard to sit up straight but as soon I hit a comfortable position I freaking slide. Now that I'm thinking about it, maybe it's not my black wanna be jeans but instead it's this cheap, yet very expensive chair.

Either way, it sucks and it's not helping my posture. At. All.

I really dislike the first week after a time change, it totally throws me off. I didn't go to bed until late last night because I was fooled by the sun being out at 7pm. To top it off I didn't really get a good nights sleep because I kept having dreams that I forgot to set my clock to the right time & was about an hour late to work, lord forbid I get another 'tardy slip' ha-ha.

Rusty & I went fruit shopping at Sam's Club on Saturday. We figure if we're going to snack on something it might as well be fruit and not Doritos (although I would totally prefer the Doritos). We walked out of there with a pineapple, strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, a honeydew, grapes and kiwis. Sounds healthy doesn't it? You know what it isn't? Cheap.

We spent about $40 on fruit that going to last us about 3-4 days. I don't know if I'll be able to afford being healthy at this rate.

Rusty & I went to B&N on Saturday morning & I'm totally excited about finding a great book. It's been months since I read my last good book and it feels so nice to be half way through a book and not want it to be over. I've been spending so much time on the web that I'd forgotten how much fun it was to read. I took the weekend to spend sometime with my book, my tv and Rusty.
Although, If you ask Rusty he'll say it was mostly the book and tv since he doesn't count me sitting next to him in bed reading my book as he talks to me and I continue to ignore him 'quality time'...pfft attention wh*re much?

While we were at B&N we checked out the new color Nook & I'm really diggin' it. If you have one, do you think they're worth it?

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

( This totally cracked me up!)

  1. I guess maybe I have the benefit of living in the south, because eating healthy (not organic) is relatively inexpensive. The bulk of my grocery list each week is fresh veggies and fruit (when I'm cooking).

Sam's can be a bit tricky though, since you're buying in bulk. I try to just stick to buying non-perishables and meat there since I know a bag of chicken breasts will last us a month.

(gah, no need to write a novel, G)

I hate DST too. The only decent thing is that the boys sleep late, but it seems to throw all of us off anyway.

I spit my coffee out after reading that cartoon. Hysterical!

  2. While I don't have the Nook Color, I do have the regular one and absolutely love it! Plus they always have free book Fridays and I love those. Did you know you could read any of their ebooks for free while in their stores? :)

I'm reading Shanghai Girls right now. Soooooo good!

  3. Sam's is horrible with some fruits but better with other like oranges and bananas. Weird though.

I tried eating only "organic" and farm fed (or whatever the correct term is) meat and it was expensive!

OK, so my MIL has the Nook color and while she had to get used to the weight, the feel of it not being a book, she likes it. She doesn't love it though.

  4. I'm pretty sure they put a lot of fruit in Doritos. At least that is what I choose to believe!

  5. I try not to buy fruit at Sam's because most of the time it's more expensive than just buying whatever's on sale at Publix. I do buy romaine there though, because it's a little cheaper than the store and we go through a crapton with all the bunnies!

I don't have a Nook, but I do have a Kindle...and I love that thing! Which really doesn't help you at all with deciding what to get....but I will say that whatever you get you should read The Hunger Games! Oh, and join Goodreads (because, you know, I haven't harped on that enough on my blog!) :)

  6. Oh it's soooo true! Shopping healthy can be expensive, especially when fruit is involved. I hear ya!

Thanks so much for stopping by to comment on my little jailbird. Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. Since our little escapade to pick up Cooper at the police station it's been tough to find the time to get back to everyone. Sorry, but your sweet words on the matter made it easier to get through.

    Lots of yummy love,

I love comments!
