83rd Academy Awards...What A Major Flop

I ranted, raved and waited excitedly for what I expected to be one of the funnest and most entertaining Oscars since Hugh Jackman had hosted. I was horribly let down.

I'm not talking about my date stood me up sort let down either, nu-uh. This was like a Christmas sucked so bad I wish I didn't get up for it sort of let down.
.
It was awkward. It was unfunny. It was not entertaining, unless you count Melissa Leo cursing during her exceptance speach, that was pretty funny.

I love James Franco in Pineapple Express, I have the damn movie DVR'd so I can watch it whenever I need a laugh but he was just not funny. From the moment he stepped on that stage he was super awkward and seemed bored (much like the viewers).
.
I can't put all the blame on James Franco. Anne Hathaway didnt make it any better either, she was mediocre at best. As big of a fan as I am I think she should definitely stick to acting and maybe singing (she was pretty effing good when she sang, WAY better then lame-o Gweneth Paltrow...yuck).

Maybe I'm being a little hard on them but the commercials for the Oscars were funnier than the show, ha-ha. I don't know if it was the writers who gave them a shitty script or what but next time I think the Oscar people should let highly controversial British comedian Ricky Gervais take a shot at writing the script. He may have been really forward in his insults to the stars at the Golden Globes but at least it was entertaining to watch. Also, his script for Anne & James was way better than last nights' crap.

Did you watch last nights show, what did you think?

  1. Agree, agree, agree! And I love James Franco...love Anne Hathaway, tons. But they stunk.

And I thought I was the only one who wasn't fawning over Gwyneth's singing??

The kids at the end were adorable though.

  2. Ugh. I watched the Oscars specifically because I thought, "hey, new hosts! this should be good!"

But Anne. Oh Anne. Where to start. The fake laughing. The bad improvising. The ugly dresses! Ugh.

    And James. Was he stoned?

Yeah, Gwynie needs to stop with the singing. I am glad that she didn't get nominated like she thought she should of.

  3. Okay, so it wasn't just me. This is the first time in ages that I've watched the Oscars. But, I was determined since I saw almost all of the nominations for Best Picture this year (except for The King's Speech, which I'm going to see tomorrow night).

And I love Anne Hathaway, but she was so 'meh' the entire show. Although, I'll give her credit because she certainly did try harder than James Franco (who looked totally over it after basically winning no awards for 127 Hours)...

    Yeah. I'm with you.

  4. I have to admit that I'm one of those people who never really watches the Oscars. Sure, I like to look at pictures the next day so I can be all "ooh, pretty!" or "why the hell is she wearing a goose??", but I'd really rather just read the results and spend my night doing something more productive. Like watching "The Godfather" for the first time. Looks like I chose wisely :)

  5. I did not like Gwen's performance at all. She should stick to acting. Also, could she have looked more bland? She is usually so glamorous, but last night, her hair, makeup, skin and dress were all the same color. Very disappointed.
