I'm Giving Back & Getting A Big Head Over It

I'm no angel. I curse like a sailor, I b*tch & moan about everything some stuff & I'm not very nice when I'm hungry (I'm totally serious, stay away when my belly is empty). So to counteract all the bad throughout the year I'm putting in some community service time.

Yes, you read that correctly, I'm going to give to the less fortunate...even if it just my time, cause well...I'm broke yo.

Not that I want to pat myself on the back before it even happens, cause little baby Jesus knows I may just pull the plug on the alarm, but Rusty & I will be volunteering our precious sleep time by waking up before the Sun itself (4am) to head into OC & shop til we drop with an underprivileged child. Yes, I said shop & the best part is I don't even have to pay for it, woot woot!

The Savlo (Salvation Army) is hosting a shopping spree for 100 local kids & I'll be helping one of those miniature people shop for winter clothes & shoes. I do it every year & it totally helps me sleep better at night knowing I helped out by doing the one thing I love the most...shopping :)

Also, Rusty & I will be buying a Christmas tree for the MIL this weekend cause she's run into some problems with the tax man. It's so bad that she's had to get a tax attorney to take care of it, just another reason why you should always get a qualified person to file your taxes. You don't mess with the IRS...I thought it was common knowledge?

Anyway, I'm totally counting this as community service cause we're also going to buy decorations, set it all up & surprise her with it. If anything I'm expecting lots of good karma & Daughter-in-law points. Yay me!

  1. Good for you! Too many of us...and by us, I mean me... just think about doing good deeds at Christmas and don't really get up to do them. Yea for you!

  2. YAY for community service! We totally had this discussion before, but I think it's a great thing to do in our lives.

Also? Tree for the MIL is WAY nice of you. I'd buy a tree for my inlaws and then kick it over. that's how I roll...

  5. My work adopts a bunch of Salvation Army Angel kids for Christmas. But all we get is a list of all the stuff they want. Sooooo impersonal.

I'd rather do what you're doing. Actually meet the kids and let them pick out what they want on their own. It'd be more refreshing that way.

    Good for you!

  6. That's great what the Salvation Army is going, I want to see if they are doing it here in Toronto. It does feel nice when you give back!
