Call Me Rudolph...

See this little picture to the left? Yeah? Ok. Well, that's what I look like. Except I have long brown curly hair, but other than that, that's me.

I didn't feel all that sick on Monday, Tuesday I had a stuffy nose, Wednesday I could only breathe out of one nostril & had massive sinus pressure. Today, Thursday, I feel horrible.

I felt so horrid this morning that I finally broke down & decided to go see the doctor. Rusty warned me that he'd most likely tell me it was a virus & to get plenty of fluids & rest. I went anyway. And guess what? Yep, Mr. Know-It-All Rusty was right. Ha.

The doc said I have a virus & there's nothing he can give me for it. Sucks. For. Me.

I think the biggest issue I have right now is with my nose. I have SO much sinus pressure cause my damn buggers wont drain. Gross I know, but I'd love it right about now. I've missed 3 out of 4 days of work this week & I've used up all the sick & vacation time I have. I'm totally not happy about that.

So, the point to this little post...well I just wanted to whine a little bit & also pass on some of the things keeping me sane & alive, just in case you're in the same boat I am.

These rock! They have both Vicks & lotion in them...it doesn't get any better than that :)

I never used to like these little guys until Rusty made me taste one & now I cant get enough. Each drop has a (tiny) hint of menthol & they taste mostly like berry (I swear its delicious, like candy!). They also have a daily dose of Vitamin C.

My M-I-L, who's an RN, highly recommended this stuff. I've only tried it once but so far it's worked great at relieving the pressure on my sinus. I thought it was gonna feel like I was drowning at first, but nah huh, I'm still alive.

I've also been using warm compresses on my face. Sitting with a warm, wet towel on my face totally relieved most of the discomfort and opens my nasal passages. Rusty's also been making stand over our bathroom sink with a towel over my head while the hot water runs. I like to call it the ghetto humidifier. Yeah, we're cool, I know.

I really hope you guys aren't going through this cold/sinus thing cause it sucks but if you are, I hope my stuff helps you out. I really wish I could just take some NyQuil or something but because of my thyroid condition, I cant. I gotta do it the old 1800's way & just let it pass & pray I don't die of an infection.

Here's to a happier & bugger free tomorrow!

  1. Aw, hon, I hope you feel better soon. I'm in the same boat. I guess I could be your twin right about now.

I started feeling a little bad yesterday and BAM! Today I feel horrible. And I have my Christmas party tomorrow. Freakin' awesome.

Thanks for sharing about those cough drop things...they sound good.

    Feel better soon. xoxo

  2. Ah yes! You are too funny! I quote a lot of my fav blog posts...label them as either/both quotes or contributors...! Yours was both...some good quotables and def a contributor! I should have asked permission...sorry about that.

I was so surprised to see a comment, no one comments on my blog, not even my parents or friends...sad. But thanks!

My blog is always in progress, just as my life, so it's always changing. I love Shabbyblogs.com and have used some of it's backgrounds but am always for looking for new websites, sometime I would love to figure out how to design my own.

  3. So sorry sweets!!!!!

    Get well soon!

  4. Oh, I hope you feel better soon. I think I may be getting to where you are, but fingers crossed we both come out of this quickly!

  5. I hope you get to feeling better! :( My Mom used to put us in the bathroom with the hot water running in the shower and shut the door - it helped clear our nasal passages like a dream. *lol* Have you tried a netti pot? You can get them at Walmart with the little packets you put in there with warm water. My husband loves his netti pot - anytime he gets sick he breaks it out.

I'm really the big reader out of me and the hubs - now he did finally read the Harry Potter series a few months ago and couldn't put it down, but usually is't just me. I go back and forth on theKindle - I keep thinking I'd loe it because I could have more than one book to read at a time without lugging the books around, but them I'm afraid I'll miss actally holding the book. Ugh.

  6. Just catching up on my blog reading, hope you are doing okay! This was over a week ago. Hope you're not still sick..and yes,I love Puffs!

  7. I haaaate being sick. See, were both stuck in bed feeling like crap. I have been on a major movie watching kick which is helping! Julie and Julia, Nights in rodanthe, four christmases and tonight step-brothers!

I love comments!
