Weekend Tid-Bits

Because it's Sunday night & I have nothing to really write about but want to write, here are few key points of my weekend:
  • Our DVR broke on Thursday night. The damn thing just up & died so we're now waiting to get our new one to be delivered. Overnight delivery my ass, it's Sunday now...thanks Verizon. The worst part is that we've lost everything we had recorded. I had stuff on there that I hadn't even watched :(
  • I went to the doc on Friday to have my thyroid checked & it turns out that my not so big goiter inside my throat is indeed still there even though I can no longer see it. I've been taking meds for about a year & I'm as healthy as can be but the doc wants to remove my thyroid in the next year, in case we want kids in the next 2, since it hasn't really shrank. I'm so not looking forward to getting off my meds & feeling depressed, tired, angry, sweaty & like I'm having a heart attack because my hearts' beating so quickly. Although, I don't think I'll mind the weight loss.
  • I purchased all of Rusty's Christmas presents. I really wanted to get him some new t-shirts cause he wears them out so quickly so I was really excited when Just Spotted posted about Hurley having a huge warehouse sale. Unfortunately they didn't have any shoes for sale (we both nee some new tennis shoes badly) & I didn't find anything for me. Well, not in the women's section anyway. I ended up buying a mens' hoodie sweatshirt that super comfy because I'm always stealing Rusty's. Oh & being the wonderful wife that I am I bought Rusty Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2...AND I even gave it to him so he could play it now.
  • On Saturday I went shopping at Target & bought a bunch of little stuff for my nieces. We usually mail them their Christmas gifts since it's really difficult to get enough money together to head up to Northern CA around the holidays. I also found a couple of things to add to my Christmas swap buddies package & I purchased a couple of blouses for myself as well. It was nice to go to a store & find stuff that I actually liked & ended up buying it. Usually I put all kinds of crap into the cart & then dump it out at the last minute, ha ha.
  • Today I cleaned our entire bathroom. Geez...I never knew how hard it was to maintain a master bathroom. Rusty's usually the one that cleans it but I thought it would be best for me to do it since I want everything done perfectly & I hate to bitch when he missed a spot. I think I'm just seriously anal about everything being super clean because his parents are visiting us for Thanksgiving & it'll be the first time they see the house. They're supposed to get here on Wednesday & leave Saturday. Luckily I have to work on Wednesday so it'll be up to Rusty to entertain his parents till I get home in the afternoon. I totally suck at playing hostess.
  • Tomorrow is my god-daughters 17th birthday. Her mom is having a surprise birthday for her at a pizza place but I don't think I'm going to be able to make it because it's at 6:30pm & I get off of work & head home at 4pm to avoid a lot of the traffic. I feel horrible about it but I hope she understands. I asked her what she wanted for her birthday & she said she'd prefer cash. That totally works for me. I'm thinking I'm going to stop by her house tomorrow morning & drop off her card & cash.
  • I'm really looking forward to only working 3 days this week. Hopefully the head boss will tell us we can all go home around noon on Wednesday. He usually does this the day before the holiday just in case we have some last minute shopping to do. I'm totally crossing my fingers.
  • And, here's a random picture for ya...just because I thought it was hilarious!

This weekend was pretty good overall. I spent a more money than I hoped but I got a couple of things out of it which is great. Maybe next payday I'll actually get some names crossed off of my Christmas shopping gift list. It's 9pm & I'm exhausted so I'm heading to bed. I hope everyone had a great weekend & is ready to grub & feed the fam on Thursday. Oh, that reminds me, I totally have find a couple of side dish & dessert recipes before then...Google, here I come.

  1. Hyperthyroidism... I know it sucks, but I'm kinda jealous. I know. Stupid. I hope it goes okay.

Claron says, "You're not anal, You're meticulous. It just sounds better!" He's been telling me that for years.

  2. Go to http://thepioneerwoman.com/. Her food is the absolute easiest to cook, and it's always always always delicious!

Sounds like a very busy weekend! But it's nice that you got a lot accomplished. I think I'm going to do a little Christmas shopping this week in between classes. That way the mall & most shops will be deserted. That's the way I like it!

  3. Good luck with your thyroid stuffs... at least your dr is trying to be ontop of things and get it taken care of for you! *hugs*

I dont think your goddaughter will mind... that is not a fun drive in traffic to have to make!

What kind of things do you have to make for thanksgiving? I'm cooking the turkey this year and having it at my house. Shoot me.

  4. I happy for you to get all that done. I need to go through the cabinets in the bathroom at home. Maybe I will do that when I'm off. Cute picture!

  5. Thinking of you and your thyroid! Okay, that sounded weird. But I am thinking of you and that everything will be okay.

And that picture SO made me laugh so hard! Love it!
