Favorite Movie Tuesday

It's favorite movie day & I actually remembered to post, YAY ME! Last week sucked so bad that I totally spaced on posting a favorite movie. I'm lame, I know, I'm sorry.

So, without taking up anymore of your precious blog time I give you this weeks Favorite Movie:

This movie premiered in 2006 (wow, cant believe it's been 3 yrs) & stars Leonardo DiCaprio (Costigan), Matt Damon (Sullivan), Jack Nicholson (Costello) & Mark Wallberg (Sgt. Dignam) as the main characters.

I remember watching this movie for the first time & being so confused. It wasn't until after watching it for the 4th time that it all made sense & I had all the characters straightened out, ha ha. The Departed was directed by the director genius, Martin Scorsese & won 4 Oscars (well deserved).

This movie has all the ingredients needed to make an awesome movie! It has a mix of murder, lies, betrayal, love affairs, sacrifice, back stabbing & action.

The movies' official tag-lines were "Cops or Criminals. When you're facing a loaded gun what's the difference?" & "Lies. Betrayal. Sacrifice. How far will you take it?". How bad ass is that? Ah...yeah, pretty bad ass!

This movie is definitely one to add to your 'movies that don't suck' collection (and yes I jacked that from G4). I was going to add a synopsis of the movie but I think the movie trailer would definitely be better (mostly cause it would take me ALL day to do).

  1. The film is an American adaptation of the Hong Kong film Mou gaan dou (2002) (Infernal Affairs)

  2. Mark Wahlberg based his performance on the police officers who'd arrested him about two dozen times in his youth, and the reactions of his parents who had to come bail him out with their grocery money.

  3. This is the movie with the most uses of the word "fuck" and its derivatives (237) to win the Best Picture Oscar.

  4. Originally, Jack Nicholson turned down his role in the movie, but after a meeting with Martin Scorsese, William Monahan and Leonardo DiCaprio, he was finally convinced to play the role of Frank Costello

  5. As research for his character's occupation, Matt Damon worked with a Massachusetts State Police unit out of Boston. He accompanied them on routine patrols, participated in a drug raid and was taught proper police procedures like how to pat down a suspect.

  6. The movie's title does not appear until almost 18 minutes into the film.
  7. Whenever any of the main characters is about to die there is an "X" somewhere on screen as a reference to Scarface (1932).
