Sleep...Driving...Work...& More Driving...

I've been commuting from home to work & vice versa for the last 3 days. The drive is an estimated 45-50 minutes or so but lately it's been about 1 1/2 hours. For the last 22 years (since childhood) I've lived in the same house, in the same city as my job but since we moved I'm now pretty damn far from work.

Normally this wouldn't be a problem but it seems that the rest of Orange County has come to the same conclusion as we did, it's cheaper to move out of the OC & move to Riverside County. My morning commute is insane! I have to be in bed by 10pm the latest & wake up at 4am in order to leave the house at 5am and make it work by 6:30am (if possible sooner) so I can get out by 4pm and beat 5pm traffic. I'm usually home by 5:30 if I'm lucky.

Did I mention I've been doing this for three days? How the hell do people handle commuting? I moved to a newer, better house and I only get to spend 4 hours in it before I have to go to bed. I'm walking around like a zombie. I need sleep! My mom keeps asking when she'll get grandchildren & I had to inform her the other day that at the rate I'm going she's not getting any. I see Rusty for 4 hours...that's it. And, sorry if this is TMI but by the time I get home from work & driving in traffic, I'm too tired to think about baby making time (sorry Rusty).

Thank goodness I only have to do this four days a week. I'm already planning on NOT leaving the house this weekend. It's all about sleep, tv, Internet & reading for the next three days.

  1. That's rough. Let's hope it gets better or you get used to it. I can tell you're frustrated. Maybe after a weekend's sleep you'll feel better

  2. Poor you, what a pain!
I live in the country and traffic is generally non existent. I find it hard whenever I go into a city now as I hate traffic- I've been spoilt!
    Good luck with it all.
